Monthly Recap Carla Shaheed October 2, 2026
September has brought its own rhythm to Solano County, cooler evenings, the start of new routines, and that particular energy that comes with fall settling in. Whether you caught a local event, tried a new spot downtown, or just enjoyed the shift in season, I hope this month gave you a few moments worth holding onto.
Here's a look back at everything September had to offer.
This month, I had the chance to visit Sunset Cellars and get a firsthand look at how wine actually comes together, from the vineyard to the bottle. It was fascinating to see the care and craftsmanship that goes into every step of the process. A great reminder that some of the best experiences in Solano County are hiding in plain sight, right in our own backyard.

A new "Tenant Talk" column from a longtime California business journalist takes a hard look at four decades of rental data. The findings: California's median rent has gone from $452 a month in the mid-1980s (already the third-highest in the nation) to $2,036 a month in 2024, now the highest in the country, 37% above the national median. Over that stretch, California renters averaged a 3.9% annual rent increase, the eighth-highest of any state.
The strain on household budgets has grown too, rent's share of income rose from 21% to 24%, the second-highest burden of any state. For many renters, especially here in Solano County, numbers like these are exactly why buying is starting to look like the more stable option.
And so does moving. Whether it's retirement, divorce, becoming an empty nester, or helping aging parents get settled somewhere new, know that you have options.
You don't have to have everything figured out. Start with a conversation and take it one step at a time.
Even with changing interest rates, homes are still selling and buyers are still buying. If you've been wondering what your home is worth, I'd be happy to provide a complimentary home value report.
